Medicine (Cardiology) by Dr-Omar Khaled

What Will You Learn?

  • 1. Fundamentals and Auscultation
  • Cardiology (Introduction & Heart Sounds): You'll start with the basics of heart function and the critical skill of recognizing normal and abnormal heart sounds.
  • Cardiac Auscultation (Heart murmurs): This focuses specifically on identifying and interpreting heart murmurs, which are key diagnostic indicators of valvular or other heart defects.
  • 2. Ischemic Heart Diseases (Coronary Artery Disease)
  • Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD): This covers conditions where blood supply to the heart muscle is restricted.
  • STEMI: You will learn about ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction, which is the most serious type of heart attack caused by a complete blockage of a coronary artery. This is a critical topic involving acute diagnosis and emergency treatment protocols.
  • 3. Heart Failure and Diagnostics
  • Heart Failure (Heart Failure_1, Heart Failure_2): This deep dive explores the different types, stages, causes, and management strategies for a failing heart.
  • Cardiomyopathy: You'll study diseases of the heart muscle itself.
  • ECG (Electrocardiogram): This section is dedicated to reading and interpreting the electrical activity of the heart, a foundational skill for diagnosing many cardiac conditions like arrhythmias and heart attacks.
  • 4. Arrhythmias
  • Acls and Tachycardia: This combines the study of rapid heart rhythms (tachycardia) with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols for managing them, especially in emergency situations.
  • Bradycardia: You will learn about abnormally slow heart rhythms and their management.
  • 5. Other Cardiovascular Conditions
  • This section includes systemic and vascular diseases closely linked to heart health:
  • Valvular Heart Diseases
  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
  • Hyperlipidemia (High Cholesterol/Fats)
  • Peripheral Artery Diseases
  • Aortic diseases
  • Pericardial diseases
  • 6. Pharmacology
  • Cardiovascular Pharmacology 1: This important module will introduce you to the medications used to treat the various heart and vascular conditions covered in the course (e.g., antiarrhythmics, anti-hypertensives, cholesterol-lowering drugs).
  • The course is structured to teach you the pathology, diagnosis (via ECG and auscultation), and management (including ACLS and pharmacology) of major cardiovascular conditions.
